What we do

New Life

Our Sunday worship celebration happens 9:30am. Goolwa is a relaxed town and our worship celebration is also relaxed and informal. Most people dress casually or smart casual. We have a car park behind the church but people also park on the road or across the road in front of the church. Our service usually run between 60-80 minutes. This is a multigenerational service which includes programs for children and youth. Children begin by sitting in church either with their parents or friends and about 15 minutes into the service the Children are then invited to go with the leaders to the Open Door to begin their program. There is a sign in/sign out protocol for parents to sign and all our leaders have police clearances.

Youth meet fortnightly and go straight to their program. Just ask one of the greeters at the door and they will help you find them.

We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month.

Cafe follows after the service with barista made coffee as well as cake and biscuits. There are tables set up if you would like to sit or there are plenty of places to stand and mingle. We have a playground and grassed area for the children to play.

River of Life

Our Friday worship celebration happens at 10:30am This is a traditional service which enjoys singing hymns and a quieter style of worship. We have a car park behind the church which gives easy access to the church.

Our service runs for 60 minutes and we celebrate communion on the second Friday of the Month.

You are welcome to stay for tea and coffee and biscuits after the service.

GUC encourages people of all ages in a relationship with Jesus. We provide age related groups for children and youth to learn together, build friendships and enjoy a variety of fun activities.

Kids Life meets weekly during school terms. This is a Sunday morning gathering for children aged from 3 years old until year 6 in school. Together children learn more about Jesus through storytelling, games and activities.

Our vision is that Kids Life we will be a growing community of children and their families, who will hunger after Jesus and confidently live out their potential; using their God given gifts and talents to passionately make Him known in their world.

Junior Youth is a group for youth in year 7 – year 10. They meet fortnightly to discuss faith and life issues over food.

Life Groups meet together through the week to ‘do life together’ and grow as followers of Jesus through reading the bible, praying together and applying the teaching of Jesus. Life Groups are not only a great way to meet people but are an opportunity to learn more about Jesus and grow spiritually as a follower of Jesus. In Life groups our aim is to grow in relationships:
  • Intimacy with God
  • Relationships with Christians
  • Connecting with community
Life groups meet in people’s homes during the week and over a coffee or meal study the bible and discuss faith, they pray together and support each other as well as using their gifts and skills to serve the church and community.

When people serve others and engage in mission we see lives changed. We partner with people in Idulkana, as well as locally and globally.

Indulkana is a remote traditional Aboriginal mission, situated half way between Coober Pedy and Alice Springs. As we partner with the people of Indulkana we experience mutual learning and friendship.

We support the Pastoral Care Workers working in the local schools, helping a young generation discover purpose, value and hope.

We support South Coast Christian Community Care who are available through the Open door Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10am – 12pm. SCCC provide support to local people who are experiencing life change and needing support. One way they provide help is through emergency food hampers.

We value prayer and believe that prayer is important in all aspects of Church life. We encourage people to pray individually and whenever they meet together. There are opportunities to pray with people on our prayer team after the Sunday morning service. At both our Sunday and Friday services there are connect cards where you can write your prayer request and a team of people will pray for those requests Monday afternoon.
